Evidence Wines look good in Bronze!
We're pleased to announce that all three of our currently available wines took Bronze Medals in the 2014 San Francisco International Wine Competition!
Do we feel like proud parents? Yeah, we do!
The WineTable website has posted a fun Q&A interview with Jason, at http://winetable.com/blog/winemaker-in-the-spotlight-jason-court/
Find out a little bit more about Jason, winemaker for Evidence Wines.
The BrainWines website, at www.BrainWines.com , reviews The Verdict Zin:
USA, Zinfandel (with supporting cast), The Verdict, Evidence Wines, Lodi and Napa, California, 2009
Red blend of: 90% Zinfandel, 5% Sangiovese, and 5% Sauzao.
N/ Lightly smoked cassis and blackcherries. Confectionery dusted, warm, lush oaks. Gentle white pepper. Cigar box. Dark chocolate. Oh my! Wonderfully complex nose for a Zinfandel – devoid of flabby jam notes – just pure, delicious aroma layers.
T/ Medium mouthfeel. Big acid pop for a Zin. Clean, huge, stewed raspberries and boysenberries. Powerful, but without (again as with the nose) the typical flabby notes associated with affordable Zins. Amazing acid, fruit, and wood-work balance. Clean, mineral and berry finish. I truly love how Evidence makes wine. Every single one I’ve tried is a huge winner.
www.BrainWines.com says of UnOrthodox:
USA, Red Blend (Zinfandel Dominated), Unorthodox, Evidence Wines, Lodi, California, 2009
Red blend of: 70% Zinfandel, 10% Sangiovese, 5% Sauzao, 5% Tempranillo, 5% Syrah, and 5% of my friend Tannat.
Note: she started out, as the winemaker wisely warned me – a tad tight due to very recent bottling.
However, 45 – 60 minutes after decant, she began to really shine…
N/ Elegantly restrained and clean for a Zinfandel based blend. Barrel room, sage, green apples! Red berries and cranberry jam slightly dusted with confection, forest floor, cigar box and touches of vinyl and granite. A masterpiece, only negative is she is just a tad hot.
T/ Medium mouthfeel. Clean raspberry and cranberry puree. Crackling acid bite for the varietals. Clean, dark soil flavors. Long, raspberry jam and acid finish. Fantastic! These guys seem to make wine exactly for my palette, like I fantasize that Malk, Skylite, and Pine Ridge do as well.
Nice article in West Virginia Living Magazine that will tell you a bit more about us and why we are doin' what we're doin'. http://www.wvliving.com/Fall-2011/West-Virginia-Wine-Country-Uncorked/index.php?cparticle=5&siarticle=4#artanc

www.BrainWines.com , says:
USA, Red Blend (Cabernet Sauvignon dominated), Evidence Wines, 2007
A Bordeaux-Style Red Blend of: 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Malbec, 8% Petit Verdot, and 7% Petit Sirah
N/ Young barrel room. Round flint. Cedar. Clean plums. Confectionary. Light, white pepper. Warm brick dust. Blackberry stew. Wafts of light violets. Tobacco. Holy crap! Absolutely fantastic.
T/ Medium-full mouthfeel. Very clean. Dripping blackberries and extremely ripe plums. Round, luscious cassis. Perfectly weighted wood work. Sturdy backbone, with perfectly balanced fruits, acids, and wonderful oaks. Wow.
This is absolutely exceptional winemaking.
